      Full Stack Software Developer Interview

      Dec 17, 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New Orleans, LA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Intralox (New Orleans, LA) in Dec 2019

      Interview

Very out of order and they wanted to know more and more negative information about my current role rather than positive. I guess their idea of the interview process was seeing how well I react to a negative situation and how I make it positive. Which was not very reassuring. Everything that was demonstrated or talked about at the interview could have been done with a webinar, screen-share, or anything else remotely. They required a 3 hour interview with everything all at once. This interview was 5 hours away for me. So I had to take a full day of pto for it. And drive 5 hours back home. The lack of concern for this was a little frustrating because I wanted to basically have the offer before ever committing to an all day interview. Which is why everything could have done remotely beforehand instead of wasting everyone's time. It just seems like a lot to ask of someone who is currently employed by someone else.

      Interview questions [6]

      Question 1

They were really interested in why I was leaving my position and focused on the negative challenges I faced in my current role.
      1 Answer

      Question 2

What is your ideal work environment?
      1 Answer

      Question 3

They seem to allocate bonuses as part of a salary?
      1 Answer

      Question 4

The assessment was not very clear, it was very simple but the instructions weren't clear. They asked to make a simple "calculator" application with provided functions?
      1 Answer

      Question 5

They did not ask very many full stack questions. The interview was "front-end focused" but the position was for a full stack developer.

      Question 6

The lack of technical questions and constant current position feedback made the interview more of a social engineering experiment more than anything else.
