I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Inter-American Dialogue (Washington, DC) in Feb 2011
Interview
1. You apply online
2. If they do pick your application, you usually have a phone call interview. I had mine with the Director of Administration and later with the President. I believe this is standard for everyone.
3. Received the offer, 4 days later.
The interviews by phone are more of a conversation. Be very specific with the answers and before you get to them, do a lot of research on the current situation of the department you are applying. We do a lot of policy analysis so knowing what is going on is crucial to stand out and show that you have a legitimate interest in the work you will be doing.
