I was asked to come in for an interview and met with the department head, associate dean and an instructor, whom would be teaching another section of the class I would be teaching. The department head lead the interview by explaining the demographics of the students, the duration of each class, and the standard required of the incumbent. The instructor provided additional information about the course and how we might communicate to teach the same material. All participating were congenial and sincere.
After the initial interview, I was called back to perform a "test teach" which required me to teach a 15 minute lesson to the associate dean, department head and a random selection of faculty members. Once I wrapped up my lesson, the instructors asked me questions to see how I might respond. Other things they looked for were: use of the white board, clarity of speech, and subject matter knowledge.
