      Full Stack Software Engineer Interview

      Jan 27, 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Hungryroot in Jan 2025

      Interview

Recruiter was extremely rude and seemed uninterested in my background or the conversation itself. I applied through a referral and I am honestly disappointed with the experience I had. It's a really bad look for the company and I doubt it's a good place to work on tbh. Maybe my colleague's team is a unique exception but recruiter seemed rude, dismissive and just really the worst recruiter conversation I've ever had. He didn't really dig into my background and so I felt I had no chance to really interview...I had a feeling they already had in mind who to hire; made me think the workplace was toxic too but I can't be sure. Received a generic rejection email two days later but I kinda anticipated it.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Hungryroot in Feb 2025

      Interview

Had a phone screening initially, and it went well and they immediately scheduled me for the second round of the interview process. The second round was pretty straight forward, it was some introductory questions and then the coding exercise. I am not very skilled yet at leetcode-style questions, but like anything else it just takes time and practice, which I didn’t have at that point. It took me far too long to come to an answer, so the time ran out after the first coding question. I assume that there would have been at least one more coding assessment that followed. A few days later I got a rejection email, likely because of how long I took to complete the assessments. Everyone was very friendly throughout the process and it seems like a great company. I just think that 5 rounds of interviews spanning nearly a month is pretty crazy.
