I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Hollar (Los Angeles, CA)
Interview
Multiple panels including one management/executive panel.
The tech panels asked about background and some technical discussions. No computer science/ textbook questions. Questions weren't tough, they were more about background and conversations about various technologies and work history. Friendly, nice people.
The executive panel was a different story. There was a complete lack of appreciation for my experience and knowledge, and for having taken the time to interview there. Disrespectful interview. Knew I didn't want to work there.
Only after the interview did I read the Glassdoor Hollar company reviews. After reading them, I realized that the behavior I saw aligned perfectly with the negative reviews. The lack of appreciation for people that was mentioned such as bad work/life experience and toxic management showed through even in one interview. I also found some of the questions to be inappropriate.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Hollar (Santa Monica, CA) in Dec 2015
Interview
Got in contact through referral, set up an interview, went to the interview, got email follow-up and then an offer.
Interview was with multiple members of the team and mostly conversational. Technical questions were asked, but mostly open ended design/concept rather than specific implementations of some kind. No whiteboard code or other nonsense.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Mostly been asked about past experience and how I handled situations and chose solutions for the problems faced.
I applied online. I interviewed at Hollar (Commerce, CA) in Jun 2017
Interview
A phone interview which was then followed-up with an in person interview with different members of their team. The whole process took about 3 hours. The team was friendly and enthusiastic.
