1. Phone call with HR from Singapore. They asked about my experience and salary expectations. Didn't hear back for about a month. 2. Phone call from HR in China to schedule an online "panel" interview. 3. "Panel" interview with 2 writers and the hiring manager. First off, the wait time is way too long. Zero contact so you assume they're not interested. I'm also not sure why a company like HPE is outsourcing to China when they have the resources to hire in Taiwan? I got COVID the week of my interview and wanted to reschedule, but no matter what method I used to contact HR, no answer. With no other choice, I just did the interview anyways. Overall unimpressed with HR for HPE. The interview itself was strange and unprofessional. It was a "panel" interview with 2 writers and the hiring manager. When using video calls to interview, it's customary for everyone to turn on the camera, not only in terms of professionalism, but also to keep things friendly and comfortable. However, for this interview, they told me to turn my camera on, but then kept theirs off. If you want your camera off for the interview, then the interviewee should also keep their camera off. Otherwise, it just comes across as lazy, unprofessional, and just rude. I was uncomfortable throughout the entire process. Overall, the questions they asked were generic and didn't go too much into my background. The hiring manager was rather rude and smug. At the end of the interview, she said something snobby about how the job would be too difficult for me. However, they only asked me about my experience working with a specific type of material. It was offensive and unnecessary. I had heard that HPE was a world-renowned company that stands out in the tech industry for their positive treatment of employees. Based on my interview experience, I am unlikely to reapply or consider an offer from the company in the future. Nowadays, you can't just disrespect potential employees and expect them to want to work at your company, especially in the tech industry.
