      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Hermeus

      Interview

First was a phone call with a recruiter to talk about my interests then phone call with the lead propulsion member about my skills and example technical questions. The there were 1-2 more interviews left, where they assign a project followed by a presentatiom

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

How to mitigate heat entering through and out the engine?
      Answer question
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at Hermeus

      Interview

I don't think Hermeus even knew what they wanted. I think they keep everything up in the air and vague as a way to protect the company. I don't even know what job title I applied for since the job posting only said "Propulsion Team Member". I applied because the company website said they were interviewing people with X skills/expertise. After applying, I was contacted to discuss the job opportunity with a talent scout. The job posting was super vague, and the scout was unable to provide ANY job details. I asked what an employee with X skills/expertise might work on at Hermeus. Why are they looking for these skills? What would a typical day look like? What is an example of a typical job duty/responsibility? The only response I received was that everyone does a little of everything. 8 weeks later I receive a vague email (rejection letter?) explaining how they currently don't have a role that is an ideal match for me.

      Interview questions [2]

      Question 1

Tell me about a time when you completely owned the entire design, build, test, etc. cycle of hardware?
      Answer question

      Question 2

Describe a time when you worked in a team. What kind of challenges did you face? What was your role in the project?

      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Hermeus (Atlanta, GA) in Aug 2021

      Interview

Very smooth. Working directly with Natalie was a breeze. Phone screens went how I'd have expected them to, and on-site had a fun, casual but still comprehensive feel to it. The on-site was coordinated smoothly and the offer came through quickly. Great process overall, I have no regrets about taking the couple days to see the company and the area.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Draw, explain and derive the equation for a wheatstone bridge. Basic structures and thermo questions. Testing your basic fundamentals and engineering intuition.
