There was an easy phone interview and then a Zoom interview with the two people I would be working most closely with. The phone interview was with an HR recruiter, who was very calculated and rehearsed. The Zoom interview was casual and had a lot of chemistry, which made me want to work with the department there. After receiving my extremely weak offer ($18 an hour), I tried to advocate for myself and negotiate the offer giving concrete reasons like cost of living, my value as a worker, etc. In return, Heritage interpreted my negotiating as declining the offer and essentially revoked the offer. In response to my negotiation email, they said they were sorry to hear that I did not accept the offer. After attempting to clarify that I did not in fact deny their offer, they continued to gaslight me. The whole process left a very sour taste in my mouth, despite how kind the departmetn I would've been working with was. I've never heard of this happening before at any other company, and am appalled by how Heritage exploits and undervalues their employees. Do yourself a favor and don't apply here.
