      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at HealthPartners (Bloomington, MN) in Apr 2014

      Interview

I filled out the online application and immediately received a confirmation email as well as a link to an assessment that tested by mathematical reasoning and vocabulary. This test took about 30 minutes to complete. About a week later, I received an email from a recruiter stating that she would like to speak with me about the position over the phone the following week. We scheduled a date, and she called me that day at the exact scheduled time. I was unsure of whether or not this was going to be a "phone interview" or an informal conversation. It ended up being more of an interview - she gave me information about the company, asked me situational-behavioral questions, and asked me if I had any questions. (which I did) She then informed me that I was invited to come in for an onsite interview later that week. I Accepted and she emailed me a description of interview etiquette and what to do/where to go on interview day. I was instructed to bring a list of three professional references o the interview. My interview was two days later; I initially met with a supervisor of Member Services. He was extremely friendly and welcoming and seemed impressed with my qualifications. Again, he asked behavioral questions as well as spouted the benefits/perks of working for HealthPartners. This portion of the interview lasted about an hour. He then informed me that I would be moving on to the next stage in the process, and asked if I was willing to stay longer to speak with someone else. I was willing to stay, and next met with a hiring director who asked me a few more behavioral questions. My meeting with her lasted approximately fifteen minutes. She then informed me that I would receive a hiring decision within the next week based on the results of my background and reference checks. Immediately after the interview, I emailed the first interviewer I spoke with and thanked him for his time and willingness to expand my interest in the company. For the first time ever, I felt like I had this one in the bag. However, seventeen days went by with absolutely no updates or notifications. The "application status" online remained "interviewing process." On day 18, I emailed the supervisor I interviewed with and reiterated by interest in the company, asked for an update or if there were any supplemental materials materials that would be necessary. Within 20 minutes of sending that email, I received an email from the initial recruiter who contacted me stating that I was no longer in the running. With the exception of the lengthy wait at the end of the process, I felt like their approach to hiring is was comfortable and professional. I have since re-applied for other similar positions with the company.

The questions were not hard. Be prepared for the infamous, "Why HealthPartners?" question.

Pretty straightforward questions, none of the questions were surprising. Routine interview questions you have been asked before in other interviews. Like conflict with coworkers or patients, how do you handle that?
