      Sales Assistant Interview

      Oct 25, 2017

      No offer
      Neutral experience

      Interview

Interview process was simple enough and relatively informative. Pleasantries were exchanged with the Manager interviewing me which helped make the situation less tense and formal, encouraging sincerity. Opportunities were discussed openly.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at HRS Invictus (Leeds, England)

      Interview

I applied online via a job site by submitting my CV and was invited to an informal interview at HRS invictus by telephone call. When I asked for clarification on the job role the woman was vague, and I was told that I could ask any questions I had then. The atmosphere was extremely dodgy, in a dingy office floor in Leeds City Centre. Something seemed really odd, from the informal receptionists in jeans to the expensively dressed men milling in and out (presumably managers?). I didn't actually see anyone who looked like a sales assistant or CSA which confused me. The waiting room was full of people who were there for an interview, and I was told that the manager was running behind with the interviews. I was seen half an hour after my interview time. The interview was supposed to be 1 to 1, but due to the manager running behind he asked to see me and another candidate AT ONCE. I found this ridiculous - which manager can interview two people at once?! I found it really uncomfortable answering questions in front of a complete stranger (the other candidate). The manager then told us some more about the roles, and branded about some big figure salaries if we worked hard enough, trying to make the company sound impressive. All whilst being really careful not to actually say what the job role was and kept referring to it as 'Customer Service' or 'Sales Assisant'. He never once said what the job was, even when I asked, which was very deceitful and disingenuous. From some searching online afterwards I found that the job was door-to-door sales. Manager said he'd call back within two hours if we had passed this stage, and would be invited to a day of shadowing. I AM RELIEVED TO SAY I WAS NOT CALLED BACK. By the end of the interview my confusion and being uncomfortable really showed, so it was no wonder they did not call me back. Even if they had, I would have declined. This role is a SCAM and they try to get young people and students through the door. Cannot explain in words how odd the atmosphere was, you can just feel that something was not right. If anyone from HRS Invictus is reading this, quit deceiving people with your bogus reviews and appealing job adverts!! Also, if you are that bothered about your image I'd expect a nicer office space as opposed to some back street room - something to hide?

Thanks for coming in for an interview. We appreciate you taking the time. It's unfortunate that you didn't make the final cut, but we work in a very competitive industry. Our first interview - as mentioned in the emails and calls prior to the day - is just a short informal meeting to get to know the candidates. We go into more detail about the job in the second stage if candidates are selected. We apologise that you felt uncomfortable sharing a room with other people, but the work we do is all about being comfortable around people, so this is one of the things we are always on the lookout for. We wish you all the best in your job search.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at HRS Invictus (Leeds, England) in Jun 2017

      Interview

Very quick and straightforward process. I applied online and got a call from a woman on the HR team. She was really nice and explained that I had been selected for a screening interview. I didn't need to prepare anything but just to pop in the next day to meet with a manager who'd run through the openings in more detail. That made complete sense and was good to meet people in person and for them to get to know me rather than being judged solely on my CV. I went along to the interview and it was great, there were a lot of people in the waiting room but the atmosphere was really cool and there were loads of young people chatting to each other before we were taken through individually. I was called in and taken through the company in detail and all of the openings that were on offer and I was so excited. The office looked amazing and the manager doing the interviews was so knowledgeable and informative and all the questions I had were answered. I was selected for a second interview later on that night and it was so good, I got to shadow an Account Manager for the day and it was brilliant. I saw all of the techniques they used for their clients and got to know the team. It was the most fun interview I've ever been on and I was gutted that I didn't get chosen to join the team! I will definitely apply again in the future.
