      Chief People Officer Interview

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at HINGE

      Interview

The recruiter reached out to me on Wednesday, August 30th asking for my availability to interview. I responded with several days / times within 2-3 hours of his initial email. I did not hear back until September 5th. On September 5th, the email I received was from the same exact email introducing the process, but signed by a different recruiter. Again they asked for times to meet with the hiring manager. They (the Hinge team) did not have any availability for an initial interview for another 8 days (September 13th). On September 13th, I had a great 60-minute discussion with a member of the People Leadership Team. It was a standard interview, and went well. The only red flag was the interviewer talking about the *close knit* culture of the team, specifically mentioning they "drink all day" with the Chief People Officer on weekends. After the interview, I received another email from the initial recruiter. He asked me simple compensation questions (that he had already asked me), but also questions about my location (e.g., the position mandated being in NYC). It should have been clear from the interview and my resume that I lived in New York currently, but I confirmed again. At this point, they also asked me to complete a fairly simple assignment, nothing after it was completed that they would have a 15-minute call to provide feedback and work through any necessary edits. After completing the assignment, I shared it with the interviewer and recruiter. I never received an acknowledgement that they had received the documents. After not hearing back for several days, I followed up on September 19th with both of them. They did not respond again. Overall, the lack of responsiveness, repetitiveness in asking several questions multiple times, and a lack of general decency in asking someone to complete an assignment without even acknowledging it were bizarre hiring practices from a candidate perspective.
