I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at HCLTech (Nebraska City, NE) in Jan 2025
Interview
I had an extremely unpleasant experience interviewing with HCL US. Having already known about HCL’s unprofessionalism from their operations in India, I wasn’t expecting much, but this experience was outright disgraceful and cemented their reputation as unworthy of respect.
The interviewer began by rudely instructing me to move to a different spot, claiming they "couldn't see me properly" in an authoritarian and dismissive tone. This was absurd considering that I had just completed a panel interview with a reputable MNC from the USA an hour prior from the same spot, and they had no issues whatsoever. For over three months, I’ve attended more than 15 interviews from this very location without a single complaint—except from HCL.
To make matters worse, the interviewer didn’t even bother to turn on their camera. They seemed more interested in exerting control than conducting a fair evaluation. The questions were irrelevant, poorly chosen, and blatantly pulled from the internet. It felt like the interviewer was simply reading off a script and expecting textbook answers, with no consideration for real-world applications or candidate engagement.
This company needs to take a hard look in the mirror. HCL US, you are not in a position to act with such arrogance and disrespect. Learn from reputable organizations about how to conduct interviews with dignity and professionalism. Stop clinging to your outdated, dictatorial practices and step into the reality of modern hiring processes. Treat candidates like humans, not like subordinates you can order around.
If you’re considering applying here, save yourself the trouble. This was one of the most frustrating and demoralizing interview experiences I’ve ever had. HCL, your team needs serious retraining, or you’ll keep driving talented individuals away with this nonsense.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at HCLTech (Los Angeles, CA) in Mar 2023
Interview
Two interviews, first with HCLTech themselves, and then with the client company. The first interview was relatively non-technical, just asking about experience and second is run by the client company where they try to determine if you are someone they want to work with.
