I applied online. I interviewed at GoCanvas in Jul 2026
Interview
I was scheduled for an initial interview with a recruiter who was late on two separate occasions, with no prior notice or communication either time. After the fact, I was asked to reschedule with little more than a brief apology.
First impressions matter. If clear communication and basic scheduling accountability are absent at the very first touchpoint of the hiring process, it raises genuine questions about the culture and expectations within the organization.
I made the decision to withdraw my candidacy. I have no doubt the product is a strong one, but I believe a company's recruitment process is a reflection of its values — and this experience did not align with mine.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at GoCanvas (Toronto, ON) in Apr 2026
Interview
The first‑round interview itself was fine. The recruiter asked a few basic questions about my background, but the rest of the call was spent discussing the role and the company. I was surprised by how little they asked about my actual experience, it felt like they gathered minimal information before moving on. One thing that stood out was the communication style: the recruiter paused after almost every sentence and seemed to expect verbal acknowledgment each time, which made the conversation feel a bit awkward and unnatural. I was told I would hear back within 48–72 hours, but it has now been over a week with no update, not even a rejection email. Even if the decision is a “no,” a simple follow‑up would be more respectful than being ghosted after an interview.
This was a 3 step process for me: phone interview with the recruiter who was very informative about the role, zoom with hiring manager who made me feel comfortable being myself, and zoom with VP of sales for final round.
Took a couple of weeks but overall a good experience.
