      Accounts Payable Clerk Interview

      Sep 27, 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Bozrah, CT
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Gilman Gear (Bozrah, CT) in Sep 2015

      Interview

I was praised in advance via email for having a "terrific" resume. When I sat down for the interview, it appeared the person that provided the praise via email had no familiarity with my resume at all. The interviewer, who was also the owner of the company, was extremely rude, critical and inattentive during our thirty minute meeting. He yawned and appeared to be disinterested the entire time. There was an interaction during the interview with a current employee that left a very bad taste in my mouth. This person was obviously very ill and was working late to catch up. The owner chastised this individual and requested they be on time the next day. There were several times during the interview process where I wished I could just walk out. The owner's demeanor matched the reviews on glassdoor.com.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

I was asked if I had a vehicle and was it reliable. I was also asked if I had children and if so, if day care would be an issue. Was I healthy and would I miss work? Could I work over time?

The applicant in question sent the interviewer an email the next day that read in part, “I just wanted to thank you for my interview. It was a pleasure meeting you. It’s been a long time since I’ve had a professional interview…..” This applicant did not get the job so the response is to post a negative review. It’s obvious that her only purpose is to defame the interviewer because she didn’t get the job. On one hand, she claims the interviewer was “inattentive” yet on the other hand she claims the interviewer spent 30 minutes on the interview. If the interviewer was not interested, the interview would have been 5 minutes long. She tries to give everything a negative spin including a chance encounter with another employee. This supervisor has permission to come in later every day because they tend to stay later everyday to make sure everything completed/shipped for the day and the running joke is not to be late. So when the interviewer playfully reminded this employee “not to be late”, this applicant turned it into a disparaging remark. This applicant should focus her energy on actually getting a job instead of throwing mud at a company that declined to hire her.
