I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Georgia Tech (Atlanta, GA) in Jan 2014
Interview
The interview process is very important for the position because it is primarily what you are hired off of. It is conducted by a current resident advisor along with a a professional staff member. It takes approximately 30 mins. Most questions focus on you experience with diversity, conflict, ethics, and social skills. They also like to see your team work and planning abilities, so if you have any good examples, now would be the time to talk about it. There is also a group interview which is very casual and usually is some sort of team work activity.
Talked to a Hall Director who asked purely behavioral questions. Overall, was a super friendly and chill process. Just practice the STAR method and think of a couple of different scenarios that apply to your leadership experiences, organizing events, and being a part of a community.
