Interview process lacked transparency and professionalism.
The overall process started clearly, but some issues emerged along the way:
- One interview was rescheduled without notifying me or checking if I was available.
- A "15-minute confirmation chat" calendar invite turned out to be a 45-minute technical & system design interview, no prior warning or prep time.
- I received a **verbal offer** during a final call and was pressured to accept it immediately, without seeing full details in writing.
I explained that I was finishing another interview process and requested a few days to make an informed decision. The hiring manager agreed to wait until Thursday (the offer call was on Friday evening). The recruiter promised the written offer would be ready in 2-3 days. On Thursday, I followed up and was told the written offer was still being prepared, but the recruiter said they were "happy to wait until Monday."
The next day (Friday), I got an impersonal email saying the offer was withdrawn because I was "taking too long."
I asked to speak with the hiring manager - no reply. I asked for escalation - silence.
This was disappointing, especially after over a month of interviews. If you're interviewing with Gen and have other processes ongoing, **don't assume the verbal offer is solid**. Accept it verbally and change your mind later if needed, because that is how they treat the process on their end.
I hope they improve communication and transparency, especially for senior candidates who are trying to be respectful and honest.
