      Marketing Interview

      May 19, 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Gen II Fund Services (New York, NY) in Apr 2026

      Interview

I interviewed for a marketing role and honestly left feeling underwhelmed. The recruiter sounded monotone and not very engaged, so the conversation felt more like checking boxes than an actual interview. The questions were pretty basic, which I understand since recruiters may not always know every detail of the role. Afterward, I was told I’d hear back, but I ended up having to follow up myself. They told me the company went in another direction. That’s fine. Rejection happens. What bothered me was that when I asked for feedback, they didn’t have anything specific to share. That confused me because my background seemed like a strong match for the role. I had the industry experience, the marketing/design experience, and the kind of skills listed in the job description. So without any real feedback, it was hard to understand what was missing or what I could have done better. I also noticed that the company’s leadership team doesn’t seem very diverse, which stood out to me for a company based in New York City. I don’t want to make assumptions, but when you combine that with an interview process that felt impersonal and unclear, it did make me question the culture a bit.
