I applied online. I interviewed at Gaylord Industries
Interview
There was no phone interview. I applied and they basically told me to show up at 5-6PM to interview with the night shift manager (I think? I’m not super sure who interviewed me he may have even been just a lead). Interview consisted of basic situational questions along with a brief tour. They wanted me to do stainless tig welding kitchen appliances for the navy. I asked for 20/hr with experience AND a degree in welding and he said best he could do was 15/hr. This was 3-4 years ago so might be better now but at the end when they said they’d call me… I’m glad they never did. I doubt anybody in the entire fab makes 30+ /hr so look somewhere else if you wish to be properly compensated.

Question 1
“Can you do so and so? Because we really need someone to do this”
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Gaylord Industries (Tualatin, OR) in Mar 2022
Interview
After 1 month i received a conditional job offer. The conditions were to pass a drug test, background check, and references. Background check not complete on start date. Every other day about they kept saying I would start "tomorrow."
I was called on Wednesday of what was supposed to be my first week and told everything was complete and I should start Monday. Then, I purchased a new TV and couch for my newly rented apartment since I relocated for this job.
They ask for references on week 1 of the 6 week in the process. They never call them until after the 3rd party background check provider contacts you for your direct supervisor's contact information for every job on your resume.
2 of 4 of my references didn't call them back because one was on vacation and the other told me they left a message for HR and never received a return call back. I was told this was a factor to rescind my offer. No other definitive reason given for rescinding offer. I had a DUI from 10 years ago and I do not have bad credit.
Although it's sad I lost the job, I think overall I dodged a bullet. I prayed every day, and they put me through horrible stress and lost lots of money to pursue this job. If the onboarding is this bad, I couldn't imagine how they treat their employees.
