      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Gauntlett & Associates (Irvine, CA) in Oct 2015

      Interview

A very long extensive process, including a grammar/punctuation/spelling test, a personality quiz, a typing speed test, as well as a legal research and legal analysis exam. After the legal research and analysis portion, the interviewer proceeded to ask questions regarding the analysis just completed and does an on-the-spot test of your capability to analyze given legal information to give a coherent presentation. The face-to-face process was somewhat uncomfortable due to the on-the-spot nature of the testing of your capability, though the interviewer was cordial and relatively friendly in a somewhat detached way. Be prepared for legal skills portion of the interview. I did find it odd that for such a long interview process (over 4 hours), they do not validate parking (which ended up running around $25). The amount of money wasn't a concern, it just seemed strange to nickel and dime job candidates.

We advise all of our candidates in advance of the interview of parking fees in order to prepare for or avoid these charges.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Gauntlett & Associates (Irvine, CA)

      Interview

3 hours long: spelling and grammar quiz --> legal research assignment --> actual interview. Spelling and Grammar: I found this quiz rather tricky which is probably why I was not hired. Spelling and grammar are very important to this employer!!!!! Legal Research: During the legal research portion, pay attention to the cold calling section. I mistakenly spent too much time on the legal portion when I should have been cold calling different organizations. Actual Interview: Mr. Gauntlett is your average bookworm. He seems nice, but is awkward and cold. He closes his eyes or looks upwards when he speaks instead of making eye contact or communicating with body language.

Writing skills, grammar and attention to detail are always a concern in a sophisticated legal practice with a primary orientation to federal court litigation.
