      Intern Interview

      Nov 15, 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at GIC

      Interview

First round was a 50 question mental math/pattern test, then a personality test, a hirevue behavioral interview, and then the HR screen (around 3 weeks). First few rounds were time consuming but easy enough, but the HR screen seems to be a hit or miss, especially judging from the other reviews on here. The whole process was kind of vague, you don't always get the interview for the job you applied for, and even up to the HR screen, they didn't seem to know what I was applying for either. If you can't think of a clear connection between your previous experiences and the role listed in your interview e-mail, you're in for a rude awakening. They kept a level of professionalism during the interview, but as some here had mentioned, they can be quite distant, especially in regard to your answers; I wouldn't bother trying to make it more conversational. It was pretty hard to judge whether you answered correctly or not, as they seem to always be judging you, and for me, the interview dragged on and on with their canned list of behavioral questions. In the end when they asked me if I had any questions, it was pretty clear they knew very little about the internship program or had interacted with any interns at all. Perhaps it was my bad luck, but the interviewers just weren't too friendly. Still, this wouldn't have been so bad if they had not pulled me into their arduous recruiting process without first knowing my background. It felt like I was introducing them to my resume for the first time during the interview, and we both asked ourselves 10 minutes in why I was even there. I expected HR to have done a little more due diligence as opposed to had this been with a hiring manager. Overall, I felt like I wasted my time.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

I did not get the super day, so cannot comment on the technical questions. The math test was just mental math and patterns related, there are some resources online for these kinds of tests. Just be yourself for the personality test, since it takes way too long to be worthwhile and I don't think they read it. Be prepared for a lot of behavioral questions for the HR screen, and these are just largely about your life. You need to actively fit in reasons why you're a good fit for the role in these (though sometimes they might stop you just to get through their list of prepared questions). And in the end, don't worry if you don't get it, a lot of this is luck!
