      Customer Service Interview

      Jan 8, 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at GHS Acquisitions in Jan 2015

      Interview

Applied online via Craigslist. Obtained 1st round interview within a week. Was under the impression the position, advertised as "Customer Service Experience needed" was a customer service position. The company's website and related social networks weren't the most clear on what exactly the company did, but they are indeed a Fortune 100 company. First interview went well - I met with the CEO himself, ran through some offbeat interview questions like "If your best friend were to describe you, what would they say your primary characteristic is?" Went through the basics of work history, personal experience, etc. I asked about what the "day to day" aspects of the position would entail, and was told that the second interview is where that would be discussed. I was called later that day to schedule a follow-up interview, for two days later. Upon going through this interview, it was revealed that this wasn't a customer service position. In fact, it was a door-to-door sales position, with no base pay - entirely commission based. It really felt like revealing this so late in the interview process was deceptive. For example, the ad asked "...[Do] your feet hurt from standing in a store all day?", which to me implied that the position doesn't entail walking from door to door in a residential area all day. In conclusion I was offered a job on a "trial basis" but declined because it seems to be much akin to Greenpeace or selling knives, and I felt it wasn't represented as such.

      Question 1

If money wasn't a concern, what would be on your "bucket list?"

We apologize if you felt mislead from our interview process. We have set up our interview process to be extensive so that we have the opportunity to answer any and all questions a potential employee has. We also offer a "trial basis" so that a candidate has the opportunity to see first hand what we do on a day to day basis! We offer 2 forms of compensation: commission OR a base salary. Unfortunately we can explain what we do until we are blue in the face but some people will still draw their own conclusions that are usually incorrect!! We apologize again that the position was not a fit for you and wish you the best of luck in the future!
