      Design Engineer Interview

      Sep 2, 2010
      Anonymous employee
      Middle River, MD
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at GE Aerospace (Middle River, MD) in Jul 2010

      Interview

First is a phone screen with a recruiter just checking things on your resume to make sure you match the job description. Next is a phone interview with a manager and engineer. This is just a pretty quick talk to see how confident you are in your listed resume skill sets and determines if they concur with the recruiter to invite you to a site interview. On the site interview you will interview with a handful of people separately and get a plant tour. The interviews are all with engineer type folks who pretty much all ask the same questions about your resume, what you think you want to accomplish at the company, etc. No one asked any "What would you do in this situation?" or " Tell me about a time when..." type questions. You should pretty much know leaving the final person (manager) whether or not you are getting the job. A week or so later you will have a phone interview with HR in the UK to make sure you aren't a risk to the company. Then you wait for weeks for an offer. The whole process is quite lengthy but not unpleasant.
