      Senior Business Development Manager Interview

      Jul 3, 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Flix (London, England) in Oct 2019

      Interview

very strange experience. I had an initial interview on skype type platform. About a week later I got an invite for a second interview and was more or less offered job at the end of interview. I then had a third interview with person performing this role in another country. At end of call I was told I was being recommended. The following day I was contacted by central HR and asked if I would take a different senior position. I was then set up on a 4th interview with somebody who worked in IT in a completely different market. It was very strange. They were 15 minutes late on call and introduced themselves by telling me that they did not know why they were interviewing me. They then proceeded to ask me the same questions that I had been asked on my first interview. I heard nothing back and my calls and emails were not returned. A couple of weeks later I received a rejection email. I was asked to give them feedback which I did. It is a shame as the business model is interesting and my knowledge in the UK transport market would have been beneficial to the company. The second and third interviews were good and well run. The process seems very disjointed and somewhat baffling. It is certainly not the way to recruit senior people for a startup business.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Flix (London, England) in May 2024

      Interview

I don't normally write reviews but after this experience I feel compelled to. The process was really quick, it was a 4 stage process and I enjoyed the interviews. It was a chat with the recruiter, 30 mins with the hiring manager, case study and a chat with the managing director. The people were lovely, I got to an offer and this is where it all went wrong. In my initial interview the recruiter told me that the position I was applying for was a Sr BDM position and when it got to the offer stage the hiring manager told me they can only offer me a BDM position which comes with a lower salary. Especially after I repeatedly clarified with the recruiter if the position is for a Sr BDM (I have email evidence to back this up). After several exchanges with the manager negotiating salary and the position I gave in and said fine I'll happily take the lower pay and role (just a quick note, this sales role does not come with commission either hence why I stressed to the recruiter I will only go through the process if the salary is what you mentioned and the role will be a Sr). Once I agreed to their terms, I received a call from the hiring manager a few days later saying they will not offer me anymore without a solid reason. What started as a promising process turned into a complete nightmare for me. How is this possible? I've given into all your demands regarding the role and salary and then you end up pulling my offer? I am really disappointed with this company and process, as I thought I got on well with the people. Please anyone reading this, be careful.

      Senior Business Development Manager Interview

      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Flix in Apr 2022

      Interview

2 Phone interviews then a "case study". Interviewer asked me to make up numbers and assumptions for Capital Costs, Fuel Costs, Mileage ECT. By providing these numbers next time you can find out if candidates can do these tasks. Asking me to tell you the price of gasoline is irrelevant. Was unsure of interviewers goal or purpose. Was surprised by the lack of transit knowledge and terminology. Interviewer was unable to communicate the task at hand and clarify. Asked me to calculate a contractors "hourly rate" but what she actually wanted was to calculate their hourly operating cost which is two different things. Interviewer became demeaning by the end. Left the interview and withdrew my application after realizing we weren't a fit. Still baffled by this. Not sure if this was intentional but something was missing here.

How would you identify potential partners to run 20 new transit routes in the in the NYC area.
