I talked to FlightAware at a career fair but decided not to apply. Someone from the company then reached out to me and said they were interested in my resume. We talked for a bit to discuss possible roles at the company and then set up a technical phone screen.
The technical phone screen involved a phone call with one of the engineers and a few coding questions done on Google Docs. The first part of the screen consisted of a few simple SQL queries. The second part asked typical programming problems. You can choose whichever programming language you like for this part.
A couple days later I was invited to go onsite. I met with a variety of people, from HR to leadership to people in the sales team. I was mostly asked about my interest in the position, my past experiences, and my knowledge of aviation. The interview lasted about four hours.
The process was pretty quick, and the people at FlightAware were helpful and accommodating. My two main complaints is that 1) my request for feedback was ignored and 2) I did not get reimbursed for my Uber because I was a "local candidate".
