I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Fisher Investments in Sep 2018
Interview
I didn't apply to this company, I was contacted by a recruiter out of their Campus office. We set up a 15 min phone screen which was a general resume and company overview with a follow up phone screen with another recruiter. This phone screen was a week later and lasted around 30 minutes with more in depth questions about myself and the role. This lead to another interview, this time a skype type set up with the hiring manager in the location I would be working for. When I connected with him, it wasn't the hiring manager at all, as he was out. While the stand-in was well prepared, he wasn't able to answer most of my questions. After that hour long interview I did not come away feeling comfortable with the experience and was not surprised to not receive an offer. Not sure why the hiring manager couldn't simply reschedule. They did not offer feedback either, but an automated message instead.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The usual: What did you like or not like at your previous job, provide examples of leadership and teamwork, and what skills of yours carry over to ensure your success in this role?
first round: Phone Call with a recruiter. He asked basic questions like tell me about yourself, why do you want to work at Fisher Investments and etc. The process was smooth and clear.
Applied, within 24 hours got an offer to interview over the phone. Phone interview was positive and was told I’d be recommended for a video interview. 3 days later, got a boilerplate rejection email. The kind that says, “after careful consideration” you know the one. The one that feigns consideration as corporate insulation from the applicants. If you want to still apply for a company that says, verbatim per the email,
“We understand you may want additional information about our decision. However, as a company policy, we do not provide feedback”, then you are entitled to your own pain and suffering.
Phone Interview, behaviour questions and availability. Asked about previous work experiences. Spoke for about 30 mins. Recruiter was new. The conversation was not flowing. Hence I was hesitant with my answers. But it was not very difficult.
