      Android Engineer Apprentice Interview

      Sep 22, 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Fetch in Sep 2024

      Interview

Complete waste of time. Similarly to the previous reviews before me, I received a take-home assessment in which I spent about half the day completing. I took a little longer than expected because I implemented a bit more than the minimum requirements in hopes to stand out. Received an automated email a couple days later saying they were moving on with other candidates who aligned with the position. No feedback whatsoever. I understand the decision in getting rejected as I have been rejected literally hundreds of times from other companies. However if you are going to send a coding assessment that will take people multiple hours to complete, least you can do is show that you respected peoples time and provide feedback from an actual human being or engineer on why they are deciding to move on. If they took my experience/resume into this decision then why even move me onto the assessment phase in the first place? If my skillset is not what they were looking for, then I am fine with receiving an automated email at first. Please do better in valuing people's precious time. Coding assessments take hours/days for some people to complete. Do not follow up with an automated email as it does not help people grow as an engineer. If the number of candidates is the problem, then send less people to the assessment phase so you have time for engineers to respect people's time and follow up with them personally/through email/phone.

      Application

I interviewed at Fetch (Huntsville, AL)

      Interview

They asked me to create an app to fetch Json data from a URL that they provided. The app wasn't super complicated to make but it's still took several hours. I received a generic email response rejection. There was no communication orally with the company at all. Do not recommend.

      Question 1

To create an android app that fetches and organizes a json from a URL to display in the app.
