      Event Staff Interview

      Mar 16, 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Events by RHC (New York, NY) in Mar 2018

      Interview

Applied online - received email a few weeks later. The first thing she said was let me print your resume ... I politely let her know I had an extra copy. She then looked at it for about 20 seconds looked at me and asked me where are you working now? as if I was full time employed. It was strange considering the event business is all contract work? She was very "cordial" with me however it was as if she was doing me a favor. She was more lively while having a conversation with the receptionist than the interview. I felt she didn't care about what my skills were professionally or if I was a fit for the company. I answered her questions using examples from real world experience as a bartender and server etc. The whole experience was strange to me... especially because I recently sent a friend to interview here because I love the beauty and food flavors of Sonnier & Castle. My friend and a few colleagues work here because I sent them to apply. These friend happen to be male models of which I am not. Thankfully I am experienced enough with industry and comfortable with myself otherwise I would of been in tears. She was rude. I am pretty sure she might have a degree in HR but no real world (under the gun) event FOH or BOH experience . Thankfully one of their competitors hired me the next day at the first interview.
