InterviewI applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Enplug in Jul 2018
After applying, I received an email from the CEO to schedule a call. That call lasted 45 minutes and I sent a follow-up email with requested materials. They called me in for an in-person interview shortly afterward. I met with 3 people over nearly 3 hours and did tests (including 6th grade math questions), on-the-spot verbal pitches, and wrote on-the-spot email pitches. I also gave them ideas for prospects from my own network. Everything seemed good. I sent thank you notes, they requested references, I exchanged a few emails with one of the people who interviewed me. It looked like I was going to get the job, but didn’t hear from them for over two weeks. I couldn’t wait any longer, so I ended up accepting a different job. Given the length of the interview, the tests, and the on-the-spot pitches, I'd say the interview is on the stringent side, but I appreciated that because it seemed like they wanted to do an immediate assessment of one's skills and maximize the time in a single interview in one day, rather than spreading it out or finding out someone doesn't know how to sell after being hired. That said, they should take that same approach when making a decision, instead of leaving someone hanging. We're all busy and a simple one-sentence email one way or the other goes a long way. I would’ve liked to have worked there, but the lack of follow-up left a sour taste in my mouth. The office was also oddly quiet and had a bit of a depressing vibe (though I chalked it up to not many people being there that day for whatever reason).

InterviewI applied online. I interviewed at Enplug
The CEO did the interview - no recruiter screening. This seemed like a questionable move for resource management. What followed was a 30 minute phone interview where she was seeking direction as the company is trying to redefine it's marketing approach. I explained what I do and what the business should be doing. After just 1 phone interview, Nanxi assigned a full weekend project (my weekend had already been booked) designed to give her complete insight into how to run a Marketing Department in her type of business (See Questions).
Interview Questions
- " I'd like you to create a 12-month marketing proposal, no longer than 3 pages. In this proposal: 1. Outline all the hires, if any, you would make if you were to build a new marketing team from scratch 2. Outline all day-to-day marketing activities vs longer campaigns 3. Proposed budget for each marketing activity and the expected ROI for each activity 4. Include KPIs and other metrics 5. Include anything else you think would be valuable in the proposal I understand you don't have a lot of information on Enplug's current activity to create this proposal, so don't worry too much about accuracy. You can use public information to determine your strategy. The goal of this is to understand the depth and breadth of how to market in our industry. I want to see if you are familiar with the traditional methods and any "out of the box" thinking. "

InterviewI applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Enplug in Dec 2015
I applied for the position after finding it via LinkedIn. Was busy for the next week, so when I heard back about a skype call I had to schedule it for the following week. I was able to hop on a skype call with their CTO and we talked about my background, what I was looking for, and closed with some technical questions. Enjoyable on the whole!
Interview Questions
- I was asked the more-or-less standard slew of front-end questions, with some being particular to angular. There were some questions about object equality and javascript fundamentals.

After reaching out to their job listing I was called for an initial phone screening. A couple of days after that I did an early morning face-to-face interview with their CTO and then another face-to-face with the founding team. No difficult technical questions were asked, just brief questions regarding familiarity with the technology they use.
Interview Questions
- I wasn't asked any difficult/unexpected questions. I was asked about my feelings about MVC and why it's a great pattern to use.
