The interview process consisted of 3 interviews; the second one being a tour of Sam's Club, which was where I would be stationed. This company was very vague about what the job entailed until the interview process. I was under the impression that I would be working in business to business sales and marketing, but was then informed that they needed me to sell DirectTV to customers who were shopping in Sam's Club. I immediately got the image in my head of those people at the mall who try to sell things to people who are adverting their gaze as they hurriedly walk past! The guy who interviewed me seemed very new at his job or just unprofessional in general. When I arrived for the third interview he actually greeted me with "hey what's up" and it didn't seem like an actual interview, just him basically telling me about the job like they were already planning on hiring me. He told me that everyone in this company starts off at this position and that he was promoted to where he is now after making a lot of sales, but I felt like he was trying to make it sound too good to be true. He said that managers in this company make between 75-100K and in his words: "to be frank, 75K is on the low end for this company." However, I told him I wouldn't be interested unless I could work at the Sam's Club closer to my current location, because for the money they were offering I wouldn't even be able to afford to drive over an hour for work every day. He claimed in the first interview that I would be making $600-$900 a week, but I found out in the second interview that it was based solely off of the commission I could possibly get if I made a required amount of sales every week. I could also hear through the wall while I was waiting for my interview and the person being interviewed before me asked what the turnover rate for this job was, and he said 70% so there's a sign right there that it isn't as easy to make DirectTV sales as he made it sound. The only amount I was guaranteed was 9.75 an hour and I just couldn't risk going a couple weeks without a sale, all my money would be going for gas to drive there! This might have been something to try out if I was closer, but because of the distance and the commission based, non-consistent income I couldn't accept their offer.
