Glassdoor users rated their interview experience at Emerald Associates as 33.3% positive with a difficulty rating score of 3 out of 5 (where 5 is the highest level of difficulty). The hiring process at Emerald Associates takes an average of 21 days when considering 3 user submitted interviews across all job titles. Candidates applying for Java Developer/Implementation Specialist had the quickest hiring process (on average 12 days), whereas Implementation Specialist roles had the slowest hiring process (on average 30 days).
The process included: Codility problems, pre-screening call, personality test, and coding assignment.
In my opinion, the coding assignment was poorly chosen and the interaction with the interviewer was unpleasant, he refused to clarify the requirements for the coding assignment (a red flag).
I was really upset about wasted time, normally coding assignments allow you to learn or try something new. This one was unpaid, boring and useless. The only reason I completed the task is that it was one of few companies offering remote work at the time.
In retrospect, I was lucky to be rejected.

Question 1
Average Codility tasks and the assignment to extend one of the standard Java APIs.
I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Emerald Associates in Jan 2020
Interview
Overall bad interview experience. I applied online the received a pre-screen fairly quickly. It was 3 coding questions that took about 1 hour to complete.
The interviewer then followed up with a call a few days later. After actually reading my resume while on the call he said they wouldn't be interested because I won't graduate for three months. He suggested I apply once I've graduated but I told him I wouldn't be interested at that point as I had other opportunities available. He responded by asking me to complete the extended coding assignment.
The extended coding assignment was more system design, it took about three hours. I had just written a systems design final exam a few days prior so I was confident in my answers. I also had to complete a post-mortem. In the end I received no response.
Waste of time.

Question 1
If an interruption exception is received in a thread, what should be done?
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Emerald Associates (Calgary, AB)
Interview
the process was very reasonable. It started with a 1 hour pre-screen, then was followed with an online personality profile questionnaire and then a 2 hour face-to-face interview with a few follow up questions and a reference check. It was very open and honest about the company dynamics.
