      Business Developer Interview

      May 9, 2019
      Anonymous employee
      Dublin, Dublin
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Ebury (Dublin, Dublin) in May 2019

      Interview

First there was a screening call. Pretty straight forward. Asking what I know about the role and why I want to work there. Next was a face to face interview with two senior sales employees. This interview went into more depth. They asked what I know about the industry, what I know about Ebury and a few technical questions on current exchange rates and types of transactions e.g spot. Next was another face to face interview with the head of sales for UK and Ireland. This was more focused on me personally rather than industry questions. Asking about a time I bounced back from a failure or a tough time in life and where I see my future and what motivates me, be it sibling rivalry, hard to please parents or personal satisfaction. Finally there was one last meeting with the Head of Desk. This was more a conversation than an interview and it was made clear that they just want you to have had a chat with everyone before they hire you. He just went through the plans for the company and the opportunities available. All in all if you do your research, are interested in the industry and can communicate well. These interviews should be pretty straight forward. All the employees I dealt with were pretty chilled out and relaxed. The interviews felt more like casual conversations rather than interrogations. They don't try to catch you out. They simply just want to see what you know and is your interest in the industry genuine.

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Ebury (Auckland, Auckland) in Feb 2026

      Interview

Began with standard interview questions but then quickly delved into the fact that they expect you to work overtime and put in as much effort as possible, as well as bringing up staff members who were let go for not working enough. Bit weird. After this, it went into a short role play of a phone call, but the script they want you to follow doesn't match up incredibly well with the information provided. This needs a bit of streamlining. Office was a little bit odd, there were no people of colour or women, only white men, but it was a small team.

      Question 1

What is your knowledge of ForEx like?
      Answer question

      Question 2

      Interview

First spoke to a recruiter, then Senior Sales members and then head of sales. It was relatively casual with no particularly difficult questions - they just wanted to see a desire to work in both fx and sales.
