Interviews happened in three different sections - a group interview, a formal interview and a very small trial on the shop floor. I had the group interview first, which was held at a bigger store in the area to the one I was applying for, and there were lots of other candidates there who had applied for various positions in the area. We had to make something using the ELC craft supplies, act out/create a small drama piece and talk to the other candidates and answer questions about them. We also had to interact with the toys and talk about their selling points and how a child would interact with them. We also had to select a toy from the store which we felt best reflected our personality. The interview was very fun and laid back, and with each activity there was a different member of staff assessing you. The second interview was much more formal and took part in the store I applied for, sitting down and answering questions about customer service and sales. Immediately after this interview you are taken downstairs to complete exercises which involve you pretending to sell a product to the interviewer, having given you a brief description of a customer and their needs.
