      Graphic Designer Interview

      Feb 1, 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at ECHO Design Group

      Interview

There were 3 interviews and a design project. After the first they immediately told me they would like to schedule the following. I then met with the director and finally HR. After those 3 interviews they asked me to do a design project then ghosted for 2 weeks to then ask for my salary requirements and then go silent again for over a week to then email a rejection. I then saw them repost the position with a lower salary range… in all, they acted quite shady and to go ghost after asking a designer to submit designs, it was very unprofessional.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at ECHO Design Group in Jul 2024

      Interview

The interview process was fairly regular. I applied online and they reached out via email. I had a really good first interview with the person who would be my manager and was asked back for an in-person interview about a week later. I had another three interviews with different people, one was HR, another with the same manager as before and the last with one of the members of the family who own the company. The last interviewer started out by making a comment about how they wanted to leave the company and that they were not supposed to be there but were helping out their family because there was a need for a position during the covid era. Then they proceeded to ask me some very random questions that in my opinion had nothing to do with the job I applied for and were very subjective. This last interview was extremely frustrating as I felt like it was the make-or-break one, since it was with a member of the family that owns the company. Not only did I not have a chance to talk about specific skills and the jobs I had done before, but it felt like a weird personality test. The entire process before this was going really well and this felt like it derailed my chances. After this, I sent a thank you note and they replied letting me know that once they have decided they would let me know. About a week later, I see the exact same job being reposted on LinkedIn with a higher salary. I find this extremely unprofessional and an indicator of how messy their team dynamics and communication probably is. It has been a few months and I still haven't gotten an official rejection, just basically been ghosted, even though I clearly know I have not been selected.
