      Customer Solutions Engineer Interview

      Feb 17, 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Duo Security in Feb 2019

      Interview

One of the worst interview process I ever attended. Right from the start, when the HR gave the call and asked to do a homework till I spoke to the manager nothing was communicated properly. Every time the HR sent an email, he would send either send something incorrect or misleading information. I had to send him an email and to to get the relevant information needed for the next steps. At one point he even said if i don't give times suiting to them, they would just move on to the next candidate. Its not like I am jobless and I am looking for something urgently and i can just give dates/times to speak to them. I work at another company and they should understand that I have to give importance to my current work. I need to take some time off for some other reason and my manager should be cool with that and also make sure I do not book myself with important meetings. The interview starts by a phone call from the Hr. Usual HR questions. Then they ask you to do a homework. Pretty simple, just writing practice. If you work on a customer facing position, this would be a cake walk. Then comes the manager interview. He mostly asked around general questions, focusing on resume on various technologies you have worked on. If you have experience in VPN devices, thats a plus. Then within 12 hrs, I get a general mail saying the generic stuff on not moving forward. At least the HR could have sent an email saying the exact reason. I am happy that I am not moving forward with this company. I don't know if management from Duo are looking through glassdoor but I would suggest to improve the process and communication from HR to candidates. In every interview, the common question is how will you improve a process, well you guys need to work on that.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

How will you communicate between C level execs, PMs and Engineers?

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback and I’m sorry to hear about your interview process. There is no excuse for any candidate to have the experience you had and there will be immediate follow up on this matter. We will also look into the process to make sure we're not missing something in regards to the job exercise as well as make sure the recruiter has the information on the role to better evaluate if someone is a fit or not. We have higher standards for our recruiters in how they communicate with candidates and this particular case will not be overlooked. We genuinely take candidate experience to heart here at Duo and expect everyone to be treated fairly and with respect. If there is anything else we can do to improve your experience with us moving forward, we'd love the chance to show who we really are and what matters to us most, both as a team and as a company.
