I was contacted on LinkedIn by a member of the team and decided to reply. The process went as follows:
Phone conversation to discuss the role and my background.
Received a home assignment via email.
Met at the office to discuss the solution and other relevant technologies.
After these steps, they inquired about my salary expectations. Upon providing them, I was informed that:
"Your salary expectations significantly exceed the range we have allocated for this role."
When I later emailed to inquire about the salary range for the position, I did not receive a response.
Pros:
The office has a very nice view of Tel Aviv.
The home assignment was relevant to the role and not overly difficult.
There are dogs in the office, which is a nice touch for pet lovers.
Cons:
It's unprofessional not to ask candidates about their salary expectations earlier in the process, before having them complete an assignment or come in for an interview.
There was a general lack of responsiveness; emails took days to receive a reply. Even after calling for additional information, the promised follow-up never happened.
