The hiring process started with an initial screening interview on-campus by a technical recruiter for the R&D PhD position, which lasted for approximately 45 minutes. Questions were primarily directed towards your current research. A couple of behavioral questions were also asked. During this time, they take notes of all your answers. Information's during this process are compared against the hiring needs of various research groups in various locations. If a match is observed and depending upon your performance amongst the pool of candidates interviewed initially, you will subsequently receive telephonic correspondence from a representative person from the department and your host for on-site interview(s). This process usually takes 2-3 weeks. Once you fix the interview date, you are required to travel on-site for the next (and, final) round of interviews. Typically, you will be required to arrive in the afternoon day before your interview (possibly in the afternoon) to have dinner with your host. On the day of interview, the whole process starts with you giving a research presentation for 45 minutes followed by a question & answer session of 15 minutes. After this, you will be interviewed by multiple researchers in the Department you are getting interviewed with. Interviewing members are typically Leaders, Team Leaders, Associate Scientists, Fellow, Associate Director, etc. The exact number of people interviewing you would depend upon the number of groups interested in your profile. During the lunch time, they also provide you with a brief tour around the plant and in the city. Interview questions on-site are mainly directed towards your PhD and/or MS research. Some behavioral questions also follow. In between these sessions, there's a HR session where he/she introduces to you the various benefits and also provides you with a timeline when you can expect to hear the outcome of your interview.
