I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Dovenmuehle Mortgage in May 2024
Interview
Recruiter called to schedule an interview. Before we scheduled the hr recruiter tells me "you have alot of experience and technical skills. I need to advise you of the salary. The range is 50-54k. We won't be able to to go above." I said that is fine. Schedule interview for 2 days later.
Hr video interview: basic questions about experience and being told about the company and its benefits or lack there of.
First question was what salary do I need to be a 100% yes. I said 54k as this would be a very large paycut for me. The person turned around and said this is above our range we are willing to pay. Was quoted a new range of 48-52k. I asked if the range changed within 2 days or was I given the wrong range 2 days ago? I was told straight to my face we never spoke about salary before and had no phone conversation prior. So I was basically called a liar to my face.
Going forward the hr person tried to pass 2 weeks vacation and 6 sick days as a work life balance perk as if no one else offers this much. The rest of the benefits offered were subpar. expensive insurance and weak 401k contribution. Then I was told that this position is a backfill because the last person quit within 2 weeks. They lied about their experience can you believe that? I was not caught off guard and did not react. All I said was I'm sorry to hear that. I have never heard an HR person talk badly about a previous employee during an interview process. In hindsight I wonder if I was being asked indirectly if I am lying too. The interview concluded with the next steps.
Fast forward a week I get a phone call from the hr person "we have so many better qualified candidates than you. that I decided you are not moving forward. good luck on your job search."
I was so appalled on how disrespectful the person was I responded "Good for you" and hung up.
Safe to say I will never apply to this company again if that is how they treat potential candidates.

Interview
The interviewer literally belittled me and my experiences. She was very intolerable and condescending even though I was excited about the opportunity of the interview. It is sad how someone could be like this and this be acceptable behavior. The interview went perfectly other than one small detail that they nitpicked which was not going to be a problem.
