      Senior Software Developer Interview

      Oct 12, 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Displayr in Sep 2022

      Interview

Long... do not apply unless you are keen. I didn't complete full process as I pulled out after I was able to ask questions about company culture and work environment, which was not satisifactory to me but that was wayyyyy into the process... First Step was long phone call with their recruiter who for some reason when over 12 years of job history (I have never had that happen before)... Second step was a "LEET" code test, rather simple but not something I would ask candidates to complete which you are given 90 minutes to complete I believe? Third step was a 1 hour technical interview with one of their software leads, which you get asked a bunch of random tech trivia questions mostly. At this point I was able to ask the questions that caused me to not want to continue. Fourth Step that I got offered was 2 HOUR interview with their head of technology... I pulled out before this happened.

Thanks for your feedback. We believe our process ensures both Displayr and the candidate(s) get all the information they need to make an informed hiring decision. This is supported by our low staff turnover and recently being accredited as a ‘Great Place to Work’ and ranking 6th place across small businesses in both Australia and NZ. Our aim, as an employer, is to try and always hire the right person for the opportunity and set them up for success, and this can only be assessed via a thorough interview process. It would be good to understand what cultural concerns caused you to withdraw. Also, it does sadden us that you didn't ask these questions in the initial interview, it may have saved you some time in the longer run. Again, I am sorry you didn't enjoy your interactions with us, and we will take your feedback on board. Wishing you all the best in future endeavors!

      Average interview

      Application

      I interviewed at Displayr

      Interview

Too many rounds of interviews. Mobile HR interview (30 mins), technical screen (30mins), coding challenge (1hour), technical interview (1hour), potentially system design and culture fit later. Just be careful, the job description says it is looking for a software engineer, but the interviews are all about DevOps-specific questions. Looks like they are looking for someone to fix there infra and broken pipeline.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Displayr (Sydney) in May 2024

      Interview

All the people involved in the procress are very nice, however the process is far too long having 7 interviews in total! 1. Initial phone chat, 2. technical screening, 3. coding, 4.technical, 5. system design, and then 2 more. I failed at the system design which can be quite subjective obviously. In coding terms, you want to fail fast and move on. Do not apply if you don't have at least 2 months for the whole process and do not have any expectation until you are presented with an offer. Long process like this can consume you and burn you out.
