Digital Press interview questions

I was contacted by one of Digital Press's hiring managers through LinkedIn about an open Account Managing Editor position. It sounded intriguing, so I replied with a current copy of my resume and the hiring manager decided that they were interested enough to schedule a phone interview. The call was mostly informational--explaining the position in greater detail, giving background on the company and the company's owner, explaining next steps in the interviewing process. It was a great conversation, and I went into the next step of completing an editing assessment. I was told that if they were happy with my work, I would do a Skype interview with the company's owner. I completed the assessment, which was pretty challenging, and sent it in. A month and a half and two follow-up emails later, I have heard absolutely nothing from them. I would understand no response if I had applied to a job posting, but considering that they sought me out and I did work for them, I am extremely disappointed that they couldn't even give me the courtesy of a verbal rejection. I wouldn't recommend interviewing with this company.
