I was brought in for an initial interview, and unlike most other places it was a very intimidating process. It was a one-on-one meeting with the manager, and no others were brought into the decision-making. The manager was very alpha-dogish and A-type. They seemed nice enough, but they asked many personal questions that seemed irrelevant to the position.
Part II of the interview was an evaluation where you had to go through some tasks of preparing documents for a proposal. In retrospect - after getting a job in this field at another company - this activity was incredibly hard, and a demonstration of some key inefficiencies. It would be impossible to do well in this activity as their method of preparation was not standard, and you basically had to have had experience specifically with this company to get it right.
It took me a few hours to complete, but I was rushing since I had to be back at work. In reality, the activity - done right - probably would need 3-4 hours to complete.
