      Senior Financial Analyst Interview

      May 28, 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

      I interviewed at Dean Foods

      Interview

Typical interview process, 1 screening phone interview, 1 phone interview by a finance manager, then an in person interview with various employees in the finance department. All employees were nice and transparent about the interview process. The down side to the interview process is the firm treats you like your time isn’t valuable. There is a sense of, “you applied here so you are on our timeline.” Finance managers of other similar sized firms in the DFW area will be more respectful of your time and get back to you much faster.

      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Dean Foods (Dallas, TX) in Apr 2018

      Interview

Took roughly 6 weeks from start to finish. Started with an email requesting an HR phone interview that included basic questions and resume walk through. About a day later they requested another phone interview with a director that had more standard interview questions. Four days later they requested an in-person interview. It was a 3 consecutive interviews with different managers and directors (roughly 45 mins each). They varied in difficulty and included both technical questions and personality based questions. Overall it was a fairly nice process, although some of the questions were difficult. Most of them walked through the resume with me and asked questions about what I have done. They reached out about 3.5 weeks later letting me know I did not get the job.

      Interview questions [3]

      Question 1

They had me do an Excel exercise on a laptop

      Question 2

All three in-person interviews had a technical question about fixed vs variable costs. (ex: it costs $1000 to build 500 units and 50% is fixed, is $1500 to build 750 units good?)
      Answer question

      Question 3

They gave me one complicated word problem that required some algebra I have not used in awhile.
