I submitted a resume and cover letter and was invited to a Skype interview shortly after. The interview involved two developers out of which one asked questions while the other only listened. The questions were very basic (CSS selectors, jQuery plugins, ...). During the interview they told me that the position I applied for was not available any more and that instead they would be looking for Scala backend engineers. However, since I'm not proficient in Scala they said they probably could not offer me a position at the moment. But of course we should stay in touch as things could change in the future.
I found it highly disappointing that the position I applied for was not available. If they had taken it out of their careers site, I wouldn't have wasted my time writing a cover letter. The position is still online and my application is still marked as in process in the Jobvite portal but I haven't heard anything since.
