      Store Manager Interview

      Sep 12, 2023
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Data Doctors

      Interview

It started off with a phone interview. Next up, an in-person interview. The position applied to was very local, but the interview location was about 45-60 minutes away, depending on traffic. When I arrived about five minutes early, the interviewer acted very annoyed. He was chatting about non-work related stuff with one of the female employee in the office. I waited about 15 minutes past the scheduled interview time. He took me to a room in the back. He spent no more than 10 seconds looking at my resume and then proceeded to tell me that degrees and certifications do not matter. Keep in mind, I have substantial experience in this field and am typically a very good interviewer. He then went off on several tangents including telling me it's not actually a management position, but a customer service one. I'd be "lightly supervising" one employee, and the focus would be on clients. My impression of him was that he was very out of touch with the industry (he didn't seem to even know basic things like current operating systems) and that he had poor people skills. I didn't speak out of turn and let him go on. Overall, it was not a productive interview and he stated their protocol was to just ghost people who don't make it to the next round of interviews. I also asked him how long people tend to stay there and he said "usually a long time", followed by sic "about 1-2 years." The interview lasted about 45 minutes. I didn't make it to the next round. I did email and reach out, cordially thanking them for the interview, and they didn't even respond to that. Oh, and there's a mandatory non-compete clause too, apparently. Overall, it was a very unprofessional interview for a seemingly substandard company in a competitive industry.
