Extensive hiring process with little respect for candidates’ time.
Steps included: recruiter call, large unpaid take-home assignment based on a real product (workflow analysis, identifying gaps, proposing solutions with hi-fi designs), founder interview, design/process interview, and team interview.
The recruiter was responsive and communicative throughout the process, which I appreciated.
However, after completing all stages, I received a generic rejection citing lack of recent consumer app experience, despite having relevant experience in my background. Even if this was a strict requirement, it should have been screened upfront before asking candidates to invest significant time.
When I asked for more detailed feedback, I received no response.
Given that these roles have been open for months with no visible hires, it raises questions about how candidate work is being used.
Recommendation: avoid if possible, clarify hard requirements early and be cautious with large unpaid assignments.
