      Performance Marketing Manager Interview

      Sep 19, 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Bengaluru
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at CrackVerbal (Bengaluru) in Sep 2019

      Interview

The interview process is tedious and there is lack of clarity with what they want. They make you do an elaborate project(3 months strategy planning for overall marketing) which is unethical as no one should be asked to share their ideas for free of cost. One can interview on the basis of resume and facts. But making a project for which a professional consultant may ask a fairly high fees is a process flaw that needs correction. The interviewer process as a whole is so unstructured. They call up at any time to the candidate without prior notice or appointment and suddenly set you up for a group call which is something highly unprofessional. Also the expectations set forward is unrealistic as they want a person who is master of all and jack of none. Same person is expected to have real time experience in all specialized fields of marketing like SEO, SEM, Paid marketing etc. Where as anyone who is from the domain would know that in order to expect someone to be master in all fields is unreasonable but can expect to be master in any one. Since you are looking out for master of all, you should have expectation to hire 4 field expert. One person being master of all is highly unreasonable expectation.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Asked questions about overall marketing strategy ? (Why should anyone expect to share this knowledge for free over a call without being hired) Emphasized on SEO, where as JD clearly mentioned other aspects of marketing as well.

Thanks for this feedback. We have a very strong and small team. Each person in the team adds a lot of value to the growth of the company. It's extremely important for us to make sure that each person onboarded brings in their best to the company. Over the years we keep improving our hiring process to make sure we get the right team and the people with the right attitude. Many resumes we get have all the keywords listed that we want but they don't have a hang or expertise even in one of them. With this it becomes important for us as an employer to understand the real skills through an assignment. Why is the assignment important? 1. If the candidate has taken the effort to actually go through our website / social media etc to highlight key points it shows the person attitude towards work. 2. The assignment shows their eye for detail 3. Their inputs shows their intelligence and expertise. 4. The way they present their assignment shows their communication skills. 5. The content shows their articulation skills and desire to learn. It is extremely important for us to get the right people. Unlike bigger companies with forty thousand people, we cannot afford people who can do great in virtual interviews but do not add any value to the company.
