Hiring would take 3 different steps. First is a phone interview screening. Second is a in person interview. If they are not sure about your skills they would give you a test using the software. Lastly you get another in person interview with the field engineer manager again will ask you questions specifically for automation solutions which you should have knowledge about. If you impress them with your solutions to the example specific automation problem then they will consider you. I think this company aims for people with prior knowledge with automation solutions if you don’t have any good knowledge / experience on how automation works there is a big chance you won’t get the job. They are not willing to train people since they are a small company, they need someone who can actually do work on the spot, someone that doesn’t need training so that they can actually benefit immediately and not waste money on someone they will need to train.
