If you’re job searching keep looking. I applied for an account management/customer success position and at the interview was informed it is actually a direct marketing company. You know how when you go to Costco there’s always a pushy salesperson trying to sell you solar panels or home improvement plans? That is the job they are hiring for. The recruiter denied it was a multilevel marketing company, but it seemed to have a very similar structure and vibe. If you’re willing to essentially be a door-to-door salesperson it might be the right role for you, but this felt very much like a bait and switch. It’s not a marketing role, it’s not account management, it’s not customer success, it’s just a low level sales job making minimum wage + commission for a hard to sell product. I won’t call it a scam and I’m sure some people make money, but the promises of 150k and your own office within a year are clearly too good to be true, and it’s just a very sketchy business in general.
