I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at City Year
Interview
After I submitted my on-line application, I was first contacted by recruiter about one month later, had initial interview lasting about 20 minutes (general recruitment interview - why are you interested in this job? how do you experiences fit? etc.) and was told I'd hear about next steps in a week.
Did not hear back the next week or the following week. Emailed after 3 weeks and did not hear back until a week later (this is now a month after my initial interview).
Was asked to come in for an in-person interview with potential supervisors, had 2 hour extended interview process that was based on personality characteristics. Was told I'd hear back in the next 1-2 weeks about next steps for a skill-based interview. I sent an email follow-up after 3 weeks and was later contacted saying that they had moved forward with other candidates. Recruiter was not able to give me any additional information about what I could do to best improve and/or any specific feedback, and did not want to support my asking of supervisors for feedback.
The extended process with lack of follow-up, lack of feedback, and providing opportunities of growth does not align with the core values of service and personalized I'd previously associated with City Year. It's very disappointing.
The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at City Year (Detroit Lakes, MN) in Feb 2016
Interview
This was the most difficult interview ever, merely because of logistics and planning. You have a phone screen-30-45 minutes. Then as the 2nd step you are given 4 top level team members that need to interview you too. Now, this requires some scheduling, meaning sneaking out of your current job, especially if you are super interested in the job. After 4 grueling interviews with top level officials and calling off and leaving work early, you get no response what so ever!!!! You guys really need to be more considerate of prospective candidate time. Have the decency to send a rejection email or letter.
