I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at City Year (Washington, DC) in Jan 2017
Interview
It was a rather simple online application with some short answers, then a phone interview. They asked for your experience, your resume, and for references. A local recruiter called you at your convenience. The turn around time was a couple of months.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
many questions on what your passion is, and why you would want to do City Year, and how would you confront and reflect on your own biases/privilege during your service year. How would you mind living on a tight budget/long hours etc.
Very simple. Quick virtual interview and pretty simple questions. Research their values and what not and you should be good to go. As far as I remember it was a single interview and decision is relatively soon after that.
Really friendly and welcoming. Try to make it as comfortable as possible and share about the work they do. They want to ensure applicants are making the right decisions and that they assess the values.

Interview
Done over zoom and not an overly long process interviews are usually conducted by the IM for a school in the city you are applying for but if you have a pulse you should be fine
