WARNING: BAIT/SWITCH, GHOSTING
A recruiter contacted me via Dice for the role, which sounded intriguing from a compensation and responsibility standpoint. Three weeks after submitting the resume, I was finally invited for an interview (video).
The interview went very well - there were attempts to leverage my experience to provide free consulting, but I was able to dodge that. The follow up activities left much to be desired. After over a month of no word, I finally learned that the compensation had been cut in half, and nobody had the backbone to reach out to even gauge interest.
I realize these are difficult times for the economy, but this behavior is just disgusting. Trying to take advantage of candidates does not pay long-term dividends.
